Who We Are

Built from the ground up, for New Zealand farms.

EPE Greenery Ltd was founded to bridge the gap between emerging farm technology and the practical realities of running an agricultural operation in Aotearoa.

We work with farm owners, landowners, and project partners who want to reduce operating costs, improve resource efficiency, and build operations that are less dependent on external inputs — without taking on unnecessary complexity or expense.

Why EPE Greenery Ltd

A different kind of partnership.

Grounded in NZ conditions

We understand New Zealand farming — the terrain, the climate, the regulations, and the practical realities of rural operations. Every solution we design is built for Aotearoa.

Practical over impressive

We focus on solutions that work, that farm teams can maintain, and that deliver a real return. No unnecessary complexity, no technology for its own sake.

Long-term partnership

From first consultation through installation and beyond, we work alongside you — not just as a supplier, but as a committed, long-term partner.

Common Questions

What farmers most often ask us.

Practical answers on EECA funding, payback periods, freshwater farm plans, and how monitoring works in remote New Zealand paddocks.

Are there New Zealand government grants for solar and battery systems on farms?
Yes. The Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (EECA) has run support programmes for on-farm solar PV and battery storage, including a working-farm demonstration scheme with installations through to 30 June 2026. Eligibility, co-funding levels, and reporting requirements change between rounds, so we assess your operation against the criteria current at the time of your consultation and help you prepare an application if it is a fit.
What is the typical payback period for solar PV on a New Zealand farm?
Most farm-scale solar PV systems in New Zealand reach simple payback in roughly 6 to 10 years, with a 25-year+ panel lifespan. The actual figure depends on your daytime energy use (irrigation pumps, milking sheds, and refrigeration are well-aligned with solar generation), grid connection costs, available co-funding, and whether you add battery storage. We model your specific load profile before recommending a system size.
Can soil moisture monitoring genuinely reduce water use?
Yes. Independent New Zealand and Australian field trials repeatedly show that scheduling irrigation against real soil moisture data — rather than running a fixed timetable — reduces water and pumping energy by 15 to 30 percent while protecting yield. Sensors are typically installed at multiple depths to track root-zone moisture and rainfall infiltration, with data delivered to your phone by cellular or LoRaWAN.
Do I need a freshwater farm plan, and can EPE Greenery help with compliance?
Most New Zealand commercial farms over the regulated thresholds (set under the Resource Management Act and the National Policy Statement for Freshwater Management) need a certified freshwater farm plan. We do not write the plan itself, but our water management and monitoring solutions — flow meters, water quality sensors, irrigation logs, riparian protection — are designed to make implementation and audit straightforward, and we work alongside your plan certifier.
Will farm monitoring work in remote areas without strong cellular coverage?
Yes. Where 4G or 5G is unreliable, we deploy LoRaWAN gateways that cover several kilometres of paddock and backhaul to the cloud through whatever connectivity is available at the farmhouse — including satellite where needed. Sensors are battery- or solar-powered and built to survive UV, moisture, livestock, and the usual farm wear-and-tear.
Do you only work in Auckland, or across the whole of New Zealand?
Our office is in Rosedale on Auckland's North Shore, but we deliver projects nationally — from Northland through to Southland. Travel and on-site days are factored transparently into project quotes, and we coordinate qualified local electricians and contractors in each region for installation work.
